Our Mission
The Membership Committee seeks to share our liberal religious vision with others and invite them into our spiritual community. We assist visitors and new members in becoming more actively involved in the work and worship of this church. We have an obligation to those who have not yet found Unitarian Universalism.
Meeting Time: Fourth Wednesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. Meeting dates may change in November and December to accommodate Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Meeting Location: Stebbins Library
Contact: Membership Committee
Church Membership Required: Yes
Ways to Get Involved
The Membership Committee is in the hospitality business, which gives us the opportunity to spend time with our members and guests and to sponsor a variety of social events. You might like to start by joining committee members in one or more of these enjoyable activities, including:
- Sunday coffee social hour.
Co-host coffee hour after services - an occasion to meet and chat with members and visitors.
- New member potluck dinners. Help plan potluck dinners for new members. An opportunity to meet our newest members and share great food together.
- Sunday church tours. Co-lead tours of the historic sanctuary and center, given every Sunday after the service. The tour is easy to learn and it's a fun way to meet new people visiting our church.
Special Events - More Ways to Get Involved
The membership committee hosts many special events to foster the growth of our community and to recognize our new members. Designing, planning, and producing these memorable events is a creative and rewarding experience.
- New UU, Sharing the Journey class. A three-session class for newcomers to the church to learn about Unitarian Universalism and to meet and share spiritual connections with each other. Led by Rev. Greg Stewart, Rev. Allyson Jacks, and members of the committee. The class concludes with a fun potluck meal together.
- New Member Recognition Sunday service. New members are introduced and welcomed into our community during this special service held two or three times a year. A welcoming reception follows the service.
