Social Justice CommitteeA Letter from One of Our Affiliated Community MinistersDear Friends, We invite you to explore the many ways the Social Justice Ministries of the First Unitarian Univeresalist Society of San Francisco are actively working in the larger community and within the congregation. We are a lively and committed people. We enjoy each other as we work together to create change in ourselves and others through witness, education, advocacy, service, community organizing and reflection. We are currently in the process of creating a new model of governance that proposes a Social Justice council made up of a Coordinating Team, Justice Associates and Faith Development, Reflection and Worship. We invite you to join us. If your means of making justice in the world comes through your workplace, or home, or with groups outside this venue, we invite you to reflect on that work with us also. What is your passion for justice, or for creating a peaceful world? In the context of our Unitarian Universalist faith we ask the question: what is it that gives meaning to our lives and how is our faith manifested through our justice work. Following are the active ministries and a schemata of the proposed Social Justice Council that will integrate our work into the life of the congregation giving the general membership an opportunity to decide and vote on public issues they would like to address.
