The Hope Series: Hope is Fleeting
Sunday, May 4 at 11 am in the Church Sanctuary
service conducted by Rev. Gregory Stewart
Contrary to the opinion of some, religion
offers us no guarantees. While many of us
embrace faith to increase a sense of hope, we
can be greatly disappointed if we ignore
hope's fleeting nature.
In fact, hope's on-again, off-again dynamic
in our daily life may be its greatest gift to
us. Come and consider how to cope with hope
when life feels hopeless.
Joining me on the chancel are ministerial
intern Jeremy Nickel, worship
associate Stephen Schwichow, and youth
worship associate Arthur Stewart. The
choir ministers in music.
Please tell your friends they can learn to
live in hope this Sunday and be sure to save
them a good seat.

Annual Intern Dinner to Honor Jeremy Nickel
Saturday, May 10th, at 6pm
from Amy Kelly
Everyone is invited to the Annual Intern
Dinner, Saturday May 10, 6PM at church. We
will honor our intern minister Jeremy
Nickel
and send him off with a bit of roasting and
toasting courtesy of a former intern. We will
hear from a wonderful speaker, Rev. William
McKinney, president of the Pacific School of
Religion in Berkeley, Jeremy's alma mater.
Don Williams and David Jones
are our honored
chefs for the occasion.
This dinner is part of a capital fund drive
for the Castile Intern Fund, which was
initiated by a very generous $50,000 gift
from Dick Castile, to ensure that we can
continue to be a teaching church for interns.
We suggest a generous gift to this capital
fund for the dinner, on a sliding scale from
$25 to $100 per person.
Reservations are required. Tickets will be
available in the gallery after church on
Sunday May 4, or you can mail or leave an
envelope addressed to the Intern Committee in
the church office with your check; your
tickets will be held at the door. If even
$25 is too much, please contact Sue
Anthony
or Amy Kelly or come to the gallery
table on
May 4th. We look forward to seeing you!
