Wanderlust Redux
Sunday at 11 in the Church Sanctuary
service conducted by The Rev. Alyson Jacks
Daylight savings give us all a chance to
wander out a little longer each night. But,
don't stay out too late Saturday, because we hope
you'll join us for worship Sunday morning.
Rev. Jacks' sermon will reflect on the
powerful, personal, political, and spiritual
act of putting one foot in front of the other
and stepping out into the world.
Come and hear why, and then how.
Joining Rev. Jacks on the Chancel will be
Ministerial Intern Peter Olandt and
Worship Associate Julia Thoron. The choir
will minister in music.
Why not ask a friend to join you in worship
this Sunday?
This Sunday's service will debut a weekly
series of commentaries by Members who will
share a few words about what the Congregation
has meant to them. These personal remarks are
preliminary to our Annual Budget Drive, which
will culminate on Celebration Sunday April
5.
This week, Julia Thoron who is
celebrating her 20th year as a Member of the
Society, will
kick off this extraordinary series. Last
fall, Julia and her husband Sam became
familiar faces to millions of TV viewers,
speaking publicly for
No on 8. You won't want to miss her
story.
Overnight for Children and Youth
Starting at 5 pm Saturday (March 14) in the Courtyard
from Betty Skwarek
Acting Director of Religious Education
Saturday night is family and youth time at
church with the annual overnight. The fun
starts at 5 with a BBQ and potluck. There
will be hot dogs, sausages, veggie burgers,
salad, plus whatever you
bring to share.
If you or your family
are not up to camping
out at the church, you don't have to stay
overnight. And, you are still welcome to
attend even if you don't have children.
So come, enjoy the food and company. Stay
overnight if you wish! The cost (mostly to
cover the food) is just $10 for a whole
family and $6 for an unaccompanied
adult or $4 for a child friend coming with a
family.
Please reserve today by emailing Nancy
Buffum so we have enough food!
Teen Youth, Parents,
and Youth Leaders!
Please come to a visioning meeting for our
new Youth group based here at the First

in the other Annual Overnight activities to
join in.
Bring your ideas, hopes,
dreams, and
most importantly your calendars! For more
info contact
Joe
Dellert.
In adult religious education this
week: Ellery Channing's Baltimore
Sermon is being
read and discussed Sunday at 12:30 in "What
Do New Minister's Read."
As fascinating as Channing's insights are,
most of us would have had difficulty sitting
through the two hours it took for him to
deliver this sermon. But as we discuss it,
we see how Channing moved Unitarianism toward
what it is today. If you want to know more
about what Unitarians (Universalists were a
separate denomination then) believe and how
they got to those beliefs, join this class,
12:30 to 2:00 on the third Sunday of the
month. For more information and a copy of the
sermon, contact the Religious Education office.
