Space Rental General Information
The Unitarian Universalist Society of San Francisco's beautiful and historic Sanctuary and meeting center is located at 1187 Franklin Street (at Geary) in the heart of San Francisco. We have many types of meeting space whether yours is a group of 25 or 400. From practical to elegant surroundings, from sit down dinners to receptions, we can accommodate your needs. There are many different meeting spaces within the facility ranging from 520 sq. ft up to 5,900 sq. ft., which are available for rent by non-profit organizations, religious groups or individuals. Whether seminars, retreats, conferences, birthday celebrations, meetings, lectures or training sessions, let us help you plan and host your event.
All meeting rooms access an interior Courtyard with fountain. Amenities available with various rooms include full banquet seating with adjacent kitchen facilities and basic audio-visual equipment. There is wheelchair access throughout the facility except where otherwise noted. The Spaces for Rent portion of this website shows a summary of rental possibilities. Please contact us for more details, including current pricing.
There are only a few general rules that you should be aware of when considering First Unitarian Universalist Church & Center for your space rental needs:
- We are an open and welcoming congregation for all religious beliefs that are in line with the core UU principles. As such, we expect all events held
at our facilities to interact politely and respectfully with
all other events or organizations which may be meeting concurrently within
our walls.
- A deposit of half the total rental fee is expected in order to reserve
any space. The remainder of the fee is due no later than 30 days in advance
of the event.
- The main doors are open from 8:00 AM to 9:30 PM Monday to Saturday and 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM on Sundays. Any event that cannot conform to these hours must make special arrangements with our Facility Reservation Manager (contact info below) and may be subject to fees necessary for providing after-hours staff.
- The Church & Center will provide basic set up, take down, and custodial services, but we expect that any special equipment, furniture, or decorations not provided by us will be removed or placed into recycling or trash receptacles before the space is vacated.
- The Church & Center is not liable for any special electronics or other equipment that is not owned or operated by it.
- Upon prior approval by the Rental Facility Manager, beer and wine may be served on the premises but cannot be sold. If alcoholic drinks are to be sold, a special license must be acquired. (If you are working with a caterer of any kind, they can usually acquire these temporary licenses for you and add the cost into their fees.)
Please contact our Rental Facility Manager, Jay Roller, with any questions you may have and to schedule your event today. He can be
reached by phone at 415-776-4580 x202 or email.
