Services are held every Sunday at 11am and typically last until
12:15pm. Our address is 1187 Franklin street (at Geary). map it!
Is parking available?
On-street paid parking is available in the surrounding area, but please
arrive early to give yourself time to find a space. As of January 6,
2013 all SFMTA parking meters in San Francisco are enforced on Sundays
from noon to 6 PM, with four-hour time limits. You can pay at 10AM and
the meter won’t kick in until 12PM.
Is the church accessible for those
with disabilities?
Yes. Our church is accessible in many ways to those with disabilities
and special needs, including a ramp from the sidewalk and an elevator
from the underground garage. Please see our page Accessibility at First UU SF
for complete details about the accessibility features of our building
and our equal access committee.

Yes! Child care for ages 5 and under
is available year-round. Children over 5 are invited to attend
Religious Education classes or attend services. Drop-ins to R.E.
classes are welcome. Please see the Religious
Education page for current schedules of classes and activities for
children and youth.
What should I wear?
Dress is casual. Wear what is
comfortable for you. Some people dress more formally, and that's fine
too.
What can I expect when I visit your
service?
A typical service includes thoughtful
readings or personal stories from our minister or church members,
musical performances, singing together, and a sermon by our minister.
Visit the Sermon Archive
to listen to past services and view orders of service. The topic for
the upcoming Sunday service is announced on Friday in our online
newsletter, The Flame, which is viewable on our home
page.
Will someone try to "sell me" on
your church? I don't like to be pressured.
We want to make every visitor feel
welcomed and comfortable. You will not be pressured or given a "sales
pitch." Please visit our welcome table and meet with our friendly
greeters.
What's going on before and after the
service?
On most Sundays before service we hold
a Community Forum at 9:30am to hear interesting speakers on current
topics followed by a discussion. Stay after the service to meet
activity groups, check out books, and have a cup of fair trade coffee.
Various groups within our community often serve lunch in return for a
small donation. Please visit the welcome table and meet our greeters
before or after the service.
Where can I find a schedule of
upcoming events and activities?
See our online weekly newsletter, The Flame, on the home
page. The Flame announces planned events for the upcoming Sunday
and week, including the Forum, children's activities, lunches, and
other events. The Flame is published on Friday mornings. Our monthly newsletter also announces all the
events for the current month.
Can I be involved in activities, if
I’m not a member?
Membership is not a requirement for
many activities: art and music, social action, and just plain
socializing are open to all. Spiritual seekers may also be attracted to
the Insight Meditation Community, Pagan Interest Group, and Small Group
Ministries. Find your interest on our Groups and
Activities page.
