Alyson has been a part of the UUSF community since 1991. She is a graduate of Starr King School for the Ministry and received her undergraduate degree in Speech Communication from Emerson College in Boston. Alyson was ordained by UUSF in 2000 and served an Endorsed Community Minister from 2002 to 2012. She joined the UUSF staff as the Interim Director of Religious Education in February 2012 and was appointed Minister of Family Life in July, 2013. Alyson is responsible for UUSF’s Religious Education programming for children, youth and adults. In addition, Alyson works on membership recruitment and support with specific attention to families.
Previously, Alyson worked with A Home Away from Homelessness, serving as the Director for Mentoring and Volunteer Services for seven years and the Associate Director four years. Her Bay Area non-profit experience includes: San Francisco Network Ministries, International Child Resource Institute, Compass Family Services, Berkeley Repertory Theater and School of The Arts Foundation. Prior to moving to San Francisco, she was the Managing Director for PolyArts, a performing arts program sponsored by the State Street Congregational Church in Portland, ME.
Alyson served ten years as Ministerial liaison to the Membership Committee. She taught in the Adult Religious Education program and designed a class called “Rolling through the Holy”, a bicycle tour of important religious institutions in San Francisco.She was a long-time Youth Advisor for YRUU, a program for high-school age youth.
She is a current member of the Threshold Choir.
A native of Southborough, Massachusetts, she has lived in San Francisco since 1985. Alyson and her spouse live in beautiful Bernal Heights. She is an avid bicycle commuter and long distance cyclist, watch for her as she pedals around on her Bike Friday, Toots.
