October's Film: "Slavery By Another Name"

The belief that slavery ended with the Emancipation Proclamation is challenged in the documentary, "Slavery By Another Name". Directed by Sam Pollard, this film recounts how in the years following the Civil War a new form of forced labor emerged in the South (tolerated by both North and South) where thousands of African Americans were subjected to another brutal system if bondage that lasted well into the 20th Century.
November's Film: "Alcatraz Is Not An Island"

This November 20,2019, marks the 50th Anniversary Of the Occupation of Alcatraz and the film Alcatraz Is Not An Island by director James M. Fortier provides the first in-depth look at this historical event.
Through interviews by the occupiers leaders such as John Trudell, Dr. Lanada Bayer and Adam - Fortunate Eagle and along with historical photos by (Which have never been seen by the public before) Michelle Vignes and IIka Hartman we see the history, politics, personalities and cultural reawakening behind this historic event.
