Trudy Lionel, a beloved member of our community, passed away. Trudy was at home, as she wished, surrounded by her loving family.

Trudy was a devoted ringer of bells, member of the choir, gifted leader and a sweet spirit who blessed us in so many ways. In her final weeks of life she was able to attend her son Ben's wedding to Charli Sakari which was a huge joy to her and them.

Trudy had a distinguished career in chemistry, and had many interests to which she devoted time, resources and love – music, hiking, biking, and travel, to name just a few. She was generous to many causes and maintained connections to friends in various networks, a strong supporter of women in her field. even endowing a scholarship to anyone studying chemistry in her country of birth, Canada. She will be missed tremendously by those who knew and loved her.

A memorial service for Trudy will be held at the First Unitarian Universalist Society, on Thursday, June 9th at 6 PM. The service will be available on Livestream or in person. For the memorial livestream link (click here). A reception will follow at UUSF. We ask that all participants be vaccinated and boosted, Covid-symptom free, on the day of attendance. Other Covid-protocols may be enforced depending on the level of Covid concern at the time of the service.  Click here to read a fuller obituary, written by Trudy's family.
