Join us for the launch of "Quilted Tapestries," an exhibit honoring Ken Keep's legacy through textile art, on November 9th at UUSF, with proceeds benefiting the Keep Kindness fund.
When longtime UUSF member Ken Keep passed away, he had amassed a collection of more than 2400 neckties. Ken’s friends approached Bay Area textile artist Sue Fox to create “Quilted Tapestries” using Ken’s collection. This exhibit is the result of her explorations.
Fox spent over 52 weeks exploring the possibilities inherent in Ken’s collection… resulting in dozens of artworks that highlight the colors, patterns & often humorously themed designs found on men’s neckwear.
“Quilted Tapestries” is a group of larger works, intended for wall or bed, that focus on color & pattern relationships.
“Dancing Neckties” is a series of necktie banners that feature narrative themes based on imagery printed directly on the necktie fabrics.
"Pillow-Pops" are "portable eye candy" highlighting bold pattern & color combinations.
Join us for the launch of our November & December exhibit at the UUSF King’s Gallery space on Sunday, November 9th, from 2:15pm to 3:00 pm.
PLEASE NOTE—100% of the profit from the sales of these artworks will be donated to the Keep Kindness fund at UUSF. This fund was established after Ken’s death by a generous donation from Ken’s cousin, Jean Ash, to be used for the special needs of congregants, with an emphasis on elderly and disabled church members, and increasing their access to the church and its programs.
