Christian Cooper describes himself as a “Blerd” (Black nerd). He is also a creator of comic books professionally and an expert bird walker who discovered birding as a youth in Long Island and could be found most weekends and even early mornings during migration season in New York’s Central Park engaged in his favorite hobby. His memoir talks about his growing up, how he came to bird, why he loves it, and how it has shaped his life in ways that are (mostly) delightful.
