With some regularity our religious body, nationally, identifies and issue -- a values concern that is deep and important -- that it asks congregations to study and reflect on. The goal is to come up with a statement of conscience that will go on the record and that we can hold up in the world and also challenge ourselves to live into. We will talk a little about this year's "Study/Action Issue," as they are called, about the notion of "abolition" writ large, and about the practice of facing the impossible and stepping into what is impossible, regularly, unblinkingly, as people of this faith.
