Update on Reopening and Summer Building Use

The Reopening Task Force is continuing to work under SF Department of Health guidelines on policy for Sunday Services.  Our goal is reopening the Sanctuary for services starting September 12th, 2021. Sunday Services will continue to be livestreamed until September 12th, as well as after.

If you have a need to be in sacred space, please contact UUSF Reservations Manager, Suzi Bernahola, at  Suzi will connect you to the appropriate person.

We are slowly re-opening the Center for in-person gatherings. For all activities and meetings in the Center, please book all space usage by filling out the following form or contact Suzi Bernahola at Suzi will send you the most up-to-date policies for being in the building when she confirms your reservation.

If you are in the Center for an approved committee or group meeting, we ask that you adhere to the guidelines below, as well as any updated guidelines shared with you at the time of your reservation:

s and Masking:

  1. We will continue to have everyone who enters the center sign in and attest they are symptom free;

  2. All people must mask in the public spaces of the building (including en route to the bathrooms from your meeting room).

  3. If everyone in the room can show their vaccination certificate or photo thereof, people can take their mask off in their meeting room (if they choose);

  4. Masks are not required for outdoor meetings.

Other Best Practices:

  1. If you are in a room with windows that open, please open them. If appropriate, open doors that open to the gallery or outdoor space. (When you leave, please close those windows and doors);

  2. Keep social distance if you aren’t sure of people’s vaccination status.

  3. Ask if anyone needs/wants additional social distance and accommodate that.

  4. When at UUSF we encourage the use of the colored stickers at the sign-in table:

Green- Give me a hug

Yellow- Please ask first

Red- I need my space

There are only a few general rules that you should be aware of when considering First Unitarian Universalist Church & Center for your space rental needs:

We are an open and welcoming congregation for all religious beliefs that are in line with the core UU principles. As such, we expect all events held at our facilities to interact politely and respectfully with all other events or organizations which may be meeting concurrently within our walls.

A deposit of half the total rental fee is expected in order to reserve any space. The remainder of the fee is due no later than 30 days in advance of the event.

The main doors are open from 8AM to 9:30 PM Monday to Saturday and 8AM to 9PM on Sundays. Any event that cannot conform to these hours must make special arrangements with our Reservations Coordinator and may be subject to fees necessary for providing after-hours staff.

The Church & Center will provide basic set up, take down, and custodial services, but we expect that any special equipment, furniture, or decorations not provided by us will be removed or placed into recycling or trash receptacles before the space is vacated.

The Church & Center is not liable for any special electronics or other equipment that is not owned or operated by it.

Upon prior approval by the Reservations Coordinator, beer and wine may be served on the premises but cannot be sold.  If alcoholic drinks are to be sold, a special license must be acquired. (If you are working with a caterer of any kind, they can usually acquire these temporary licenses for you and add the cost into their fees.)
