Formerly Incarcerated People’s Performance Project with performances by Anthony Michael Jefferson “AJ” and Scott Schell
Sunday, February 15, 1:30 pm, Sanctuary
Hearing the stories of formerly incarcerated individuals cultivates compassion and understanding regarding their journeys, the challenges they faced, and their successes post-incarceration. These narratives not only inspire hope for personal reform but also prompt society to reflect on the often inhumane conditions within prisons. Participants in this initiative, such as Anthony Michael Jefferson “AJ” and Scott Schell, bring valuable experience as performers and advocates, helping others navigate issues like reentry and substance abuse. AJ, a Le Cordon Bleu-trained chef, engages with youth through cooking and storytelling, while Scott, who overcame addiction and incarceration, now manages programs aimed at violence prevention and community betterment. Both have shared their experiences through various performances, contributing to a broader dialogue on the importance of understanding and supporting those who have been incarcerated. Aria Kidding Presents: Classical Music
Sunday, May 2, 1:30 pm, Sanctuary
Kate Offer and Sara Couden, despite their combined 80 years of musical experience, humorously admit their lack of knowledge about classical music, suggesting that they would be better off remaining silent. However, due to their stuffy noses, they find themselves unable to keep quiet, leading to a comedic recital of incorrect information about various musical eras, including Medieval, Baroque, and French Romantic, among others. They ultimately encourage listeners to abandon their search for accurate musical insights and instead use their time to attend an upcoming concert.
